I hate it when girls sit around and start to talk about what they don’t like about their bodies. Some do it for attention, ala Mean Girls, pausing for you to re-affirm that indeed, their flaws are all imagined. Some do it out of habit. Some, sadly, do it out of a genuine loathing for their bodies.
Sigh.
If you want to be more fit, do something about it. Get up and walk. Lift hand weights while you watch TV. Put down that snack! We aren’t meant to be super skinny models, but if being healthier is your goal, then Good Golly Pete, be healthier, one step at a time.
But if you want to be “perfect” or look like your favorite actress/model/celebrity – just stop. Stop right now. Happiness isn’t found in a media created perception of perfection.
We need to first stop the “fat talk” at home. Don’t let those words come out of your mouth! God created you in HIS image. You are beautiful! Genesis 1:27.
I love Caitlin’s stance on “fat talk” and she’s started a campaign for us ladies to rise up and support one another. One little note at a time. So visit her blog, and I challenge you to STOP the “fat talk” if you are guilty and encourage others to see the beauty that is she. (she's got great recipes too!)

Sing it! Girls are so mean to other girs too. I really hope I have all boys some day. :o)
ReplyDeleteThank you for that much needed reminder....it definitely made my day. And I am so posting a sign in our ladies room!
ReplyDeleteGreat post - good reminder! And great verse from the Bible - that's a good one to remember.
ReplyDeletePS - I love your new "That Pink Girl" header :)
Hey! I found your blog through Operation Beautiful. Great post! And I, too, am a pink girl. Love the blog title!
ReplyDeleteI used to be extremely guilty of this. But since I started doing triathlons, I've pretty much stopped. My body hasn't changed at all... but I've come to realize how awesome it is with everything it can do. Great post.
ReplyDeleteGreat post. This is my first time stopping by your site :-) I really love all that I've been reading about stopping "fat talk" and being more uplifting. Have a good one :-)
ReplyDeleteWow- This made me tear up. Thanks for the post. I needed that today. I've been getting back in shape and trying to be positive about being more healthy. It's hard though, with all of the media and skinny girls, etc....I just need to say, "self....you are doing good. you are working hard. you should be proud and feel good about yourself. I am made in His image. I am made in His image. I am made in His image. My body is a temple and I am working to make that temple beautiful and healthy." Anyway....that was pretty personal and I don't even know you! I just appreciate the post.
