I’m a sponge. I’m trying to learn all I can about fitness and nutrition. So Runner’s World tells me that I should be consuming caffeine. Check. Oh wait, they didn’t mean Dr. Pepper. So once again, I’m trying to limit, ne kick, the soda habit. I get it – no nutritional value. Empty calories. But they taste so gooooood.
Back to tea. RW says drink up! High in antioxidants. Provides that caffeine for muscle repair. So I went to our resident tea expert, Angie. Angie sits next to me and is dedicated to clean living. We frequently trade information and share nibbles of our latest find. I knew she was the one to direct me to a really good tea. I hoped she could suggest a few, but today she surprised me with 5 different tea samples. Such a generous girl! The Chai Spice Black Tea smells like winter, but she indicated it was best with milk. Not having milk at my reach, I opted to try Tazo Awake.
I’m awake! It is very bitter, but then I find all tea bitter. That’s why I like cup fulls of sugar dumped into it and poured over ice! (ala CFA) I’m trying to do this right, so no sugar added. Angie tells me that I am brave. I feel like I’m deceiving her. I figure if I have to learn to like tea, I might as well learn to like it without sugar!
The more it cools, the easier it is to drink. I may be able to get on board with this whole tea train. It helps that it is rainy and dark outside, I can pretend it is Fall and I’m drinking it to stay warm. (I’m not, don’t let those clouds fool you, it is still hawt)
Tomorrow I shall try Earl Grey.
