So the popo spiced things up for us today. We met up at a local elementary school, per ush for our hills days. I’m pulling up and out of the pre-dawn darkness, I see lights careening past me, following a car into the parking lot. Opting not to follow the officer, I parked on a side street. And waited. ‘Cause you know, maybe he wasn’t pulling over just your average speeder. I certainly didn’t want a possible exchange of gunfire to interfere with my morning run!
Turns out it was indeed just a speeder. Booorrrrring. Funny thing though, the same officer pulled over ANOTHER runner on his way out of the ‘hood. Ha ha – runners beware; You gotta follow the rules even at 4:45 in the morning!
We got violently honked at. I’m assuming it was a cyclist who just happened to be in his SUV. I’m pretty sure Chic Runner would agree. Other than those two events, it was a great run. Cooler with a nice breeze. 7.5 miles of rolling hills. Some rollier than others. As I’m plowing up each hill, trying despartely to keep my shoulders back and my head up I keep in mind, “That which does not kill us, makes my butt look bam!” Try it. Everyone needs a mantra.
