Softball game was cancelled.
It's been raining cats and dogs so the fields are too wet. Lucy and I had planned on running after our game so I text her to see if she was game to move it up. She was and suggested we run somewhere new. New? Uh, yes please!
So she drove us to a trail we've seen and we set out to explore. Not knowing where it led or how far it went we just set out running.
Wildflowers on the trail head.
Love Spring time in Texas!
It's not too hot so the creek wasn't stinky yet.
The trail was shady, completely covered by trees. We took the pace nice and easy since we are racing this weekend. Just took it all in. What a nice change of scenery! I'm thinking this will be a great place to ride my bike this Summer. I tend to run the same routes over and over - no imagination. It was great to see new things, appreciate new sights and not really even know where we were headed. We even saw a salamander with an orange head! Okay, truth, I had no idea what kind of lizard we saw, but Lucy says salamander and she's the one with a zoology degree, so salamander it is!
Shaking it up. That's us.
What have you done lately to shake up your run?
Beautiful! New scenery is a great way to shake me out of a running funk. Sometimes I run at a random time for the same feeling. Late-night runs are really fun for me!

Beautiful pics! I like to change it up so I don't get bored. My friend had to work a half day today, so I decided to hit up the streets of Greenville, SC. Girl...it's HILLY here. I would die if I lived here. True story.
ReplyDeleteLovely flowers! I'm trying out a new-to-me trail tomorrow just because I need to shake things up. I'm not in rut yet because the snow drifts only melted off a few weeks ago, but I'm trying to prevent falling into one.
ReplyDeleteThose pics are gorgeous! I always run the same routes too, but it flooded here recently, so all my usual parks are closed until they fix the bridges and walkways. I'm being forced to find new routes, but I'm excited about it! I'm determined to run more trails this summer and not spend all my time on the road.
ReplyDeleteI too love spring time in Texas! Absolutely beautiful. Way to go, shaking it up. I haven't done anything lately to shake it up, but I think I might have to now!
ReplyDeleteYea for you guys getting rain- we are in one of our worst droughts ever down here in H-town! I'm no help- we pretty much run the same thing over and over. Occasionally we drive to a trail with a few hills.
ReplyDeleteI've recently started running in the rain. Normally, I wouldnt go out in that kind of weather -- but lately, ive been loving it!
