Friday Faves

I "met" Abby a while back through my friend Julie.  Instantly, I was captivated by her incredible style and her genuine spirit.  To say this girl has heart is an understatement!  I've yet to meet Abby IRL, but when I do, I'll hug her neck!  So thankful to know this spunky lady!

Where are you from? Abilene, TX - Maybe you've heard our song... Abilene, Abilene, prettiest place I ever seen...

When/why/how did you start blogging? I upgraded to blogspot in 2008 as a way to keep track of what was going on in our engagement and then as newlyweds. Previously I was on Xanga. Yes, Xanga. I'm cool, huh? :)

What is one of your all time favorite songs?  Defying Gravity from the musical Wicked. It's also my ring tone. So if you call and I don't answer, I'll call back. I just had to finish singing first! (If you haven't see Wicked, put it on your bucket list. It will change your life.)

Now, confession, look in iTunes, which song has the most plays? All of the Glee soundtracks. For real. I travel a lot for work and jamming out to glee is the one thing that makes the miles pass a little quicker.

Do you like to read? Who are your favorite authors? I *love* reading. In the 6th grade I set the record for having the highest AR points. Like, over 700... but who's counting? My favorite authors change, but some that I have loved reading are: Jodi Picoult, Suzanne Collins (The Hunger Game Series), Emily Giffin (Something Borrowed) , Stieg Larsson (Girl With The Dragon Tattoo) and I recently got into the Sooki Stackhouse books. (They're about vampires. Not for everyone, I know. I can't handle Twilight, but these make me laugh.)

What was your favorite book as a child? Any book. (See AR Points above!) But seriously, The Babysitters Club, Nancy Drew and the Harry Potter books will always hold a soft spot in my heart.

If you had a signature scent, what scent would that be? Chanel Coco Mademoiselle. I've worn this perfume since my senior year of high school and to me, it smells like her quote: A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.

Confession, in your office, how do co-workers refer to you? (i.e. that crazy cyclist) Probably the fashion forward one. Because let's be honest, sometimes I dress a little crazy for the private, Baptist school I work for. (See my crazy outfit posts on WIWW)

When you meet someone new, what is the first thing you notice about them? Their smile - it can say a lot about if a person is really happy or not!

Do you have any tattoos? Is there a story behind it? No tattoos. I'm too big of a wuss.

Do you have a mantra, verse or quote that inspires you? The Lord directs the steps of the godly, he delights in every detail of their lives. Psalm 37:23

I want to know the details of any story I'm hearing and I love knowing that the Lord cares about us enough to work in the tiniest of details.

For you athletes - what is your ultimate goal race/achievement? Don't read my blog expecting an athlete. I'm still trying to make myself a runner and I do eventually hope to complete a half- marathon. Hopefully it won't be too far off in the future!

What is your dream vacation? Give me a tropical location with a pool and a pretty beach and I'm all set!

What advice would you give to bloggers just starting out? Write. Blogging is fun, it's therapeutic, it's friendships, and some days, it's work. Get into the discipline of writing and eventually, you figure out your blogging flow. It won't happen if you don't at least start writing!

Here are some of my favorite posts I've written:
Hello Bold! {my personality in an outfit}
Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow.
Is A Body Supposed To Bend That Way? (See how athletic I am!)

Thanks for participating Abby!  I pink sparkle heart you!

  2. Love this interview.
Abby---I still have a major issue with AR points. I came in second at my elementary school graduation to a boy in the grade below me. So angry. This cracked me up to remember them!!
