I have a crush.
Crushes, I should say.
We all know my crush on Kara Goucher. And Lolo Jones? Swoon.
There is another female athlete that I have a crush on, and that is Katie. Katie has inspired me in so many ways. She's thoughtful and generous, her heart is bigger than Texas! She has been a great friend to me even though she is far away! I'm excited to see her in October when I'm in D.C. for MCM. I'm even more excited to see her next June in Idaho. Why Idaho? Well, seems this little firecracker has some big plans for June 24th and I wouldn't miss it for the world! Katie, I'll be the most obnoxious spectator out there because I pink sparkle heart you and your brass balls, lady!
Blog Name: run this amazing day
Where are you from? originally Philadelphia, but I've been in DC for 10 years.
When/why/how did you start blogging? I started blogging when I was holed up in bed after a shoulder surgery in the early spring of 2010. A few weeks later I got injured on the run, and the theme of my blog came into it's own.
What is one of your all time favorite songs? One that each time it comes on, you stop and turn it up. Stevie Wonder, "You Are the Sunshine of my Life." It makes me feel happy and light.
Now, confession, look in iTunes, which song has the most plays? Ha, that one is second....Christina Aguilera, "Come On Over" is first - it's a great pop-y bouncey running song!
Do you like to read? Who are your favorite authors? I LOVE to read, and I have too many favorite authors to name. Right now I'm reading "The Time Traveler's Wife" by Audrey Niffenegger for about the twentieth time.
What was your favorite book as a child? The first book I ever read (age...3?) was called, "Katie the Kitten" and I carried it with me everywhere until it fell apart.
If you had a signature scent, what scent would that be? I've been wearing Emperio Armani "She" for almost 10 years. So that and/or sweaty bike shorts would be my signature scent.
Confession, in your office, how do co-workers refer to you? (i.e. that crazy cyclist) HA! People in my office ask me every day, "Did you bicycle here today? Did you run? Are you going to run? Did you swim through the Potomac to get here?" They think that they are hilarious, and call me a "badass triathlete." Which I don't exactly mind.
When you meet someone new, what is the first thing you notice about them? The size of their upper arms (yes, this makes me a horrible person, but I always want to see who's got guns!)
Do you have any tattoos? Is there a story behind it? I have a tattoo on my lower back that says, "I thank you God for most this amazing day." I got the tattoo when I was going through a really rough time in my life, and it's my way to remind myself to always be thankful.
Do you have a mantra, verse or quote that inspires you? "Your heart is a weapon the size of your fist"
For you athletes - what is your ultimate goal race/achievement? WELP, I signed up for IMCdA last night. I think that's a good answer to "ultimate goal!" (editor's note, indeed! So freakin' excited for you!!!)
What is your dream vacation? Hawaii!
What advice would you give to bloggers just starting out? Don't try to fit in a niche. Just write who you are and what you do and your space will grow around you.
Thanks for participating girl!
