More Flags, Means More Fun

I have the best friends.

Fact.  I also have the best coworkers.  Another fact.  My last training group was unusual, all girls!  We had so much fun each day so when they "graduated" recently, we decided to plan a day to celebrate.

Who cares that it was supposed to be 105, officially?  Eh, it's just heat.  I haven't been to Six Flags in many, many years so it was like a totally new park to me.  Collin (center) goes quite frequently so she was our guide for the day.  And a good guide she was!  (even if she is an aggie, ahem)

We got there right as the park opened on Friday and only had to wait in one line!  Our first ride was my very favorite of the day, Batman.  I haven't laughed and screamed like that since I don't know when!   Our trip was off to a great start.

Next we rode Mr. Freeze.  Oh Em Gee - this ride is faaaaast!  And before you know it, you're headed backwards.  The ride totally made me "whip my hair back and forth" and we were laughing so hard at each other's messy updos.  (Work that updo!  Anyone?)  And yes, like the run nerd I am, I wore my Spibelt.  No sense carrying a purse to an amusement park.
Working our way around the park, skipping not a single roller coaster we finally ended up at the Texas Giant.  It's been recently redone and were were excited to experience it first hand.  This was the only ride we had to wait in line for, about 45 minutes.  It was well worth the wait.

Look at the first drop!  It makes my stomach turn just thinking about it.  It's the steepest drop of any wooden roller coaster in the world.

Alli opted not to ride, as she has a wonky neck and this ride is notoriously rough.  So she snapped our pic as we coasted in.  I'm not sure Sonja (in purple) or the kid in front of her enjoyed it as much as the rest of us.

After we exited the ride and headed towards the Titan, we noticed they were having mechanical difficulties. Gulp.  Those stairs are tiny and steep.  I can only imagine how scary it was for those having to negotiate that trip back down the ride.

The park was incredibly clean and well maintained.  They've installed fans and misters all over and there is plenty of shade.  Maybe it's all the heat training I've done for El Scorcho, but I never really felt hot.  What I did feel was thirsty.  Fortch, you can go up to any concession and they'll give you a free cup of ice water.  I appreciated that you didn't have to pay $5 for a bottle of water.  (although you could...)

We agreed that this was the best.day.ever.  I got the girls to end the day with a group plank for old times sake!

It's been a long time since I've felt up to any fun. It was a great feeling to laugh heartily, scream myself silly and spend the day with some great girls.  I'm looking forward to many, many more days of fun in my future.  It's time to start living life to the fullest again. Because, that, is much more my style.

Now, who wants to go next Friday???

  6. What a blast! I've been really wanting to go- but I think I'll wait till it cool off. You should really look into running the Disney marathon- such a fun time! I probably won't do it this January, but maybe in 2013 :)
