Unfortch, taper makes me quite boring. Apparently, ALL I do is run. Okay, there is some yoga, lifting and now riding, but mostly I'm just a runner.
Last night I went out for my last run before El Scorcho. Just four measly miles. I tried to take it slow and replicate "race" pace. I managed just under a 10 minute mile. Like I'll average anywhere near that on Saturday! (Sunday?) Oh wells.
On Twitter everybody was posting pics of their new shoes. Can I just say that ultrarunner GUYS are more into shoes than any woman I've ever known! And they find the coolest kicks! A few months back I had a 20% off coupon for Running Warehouse so I ordered a pair of Wave Riders to have in the closet. Inspired by Derek and Greg, I busted them out for my run. They are pink!
I usually reserve a new pair for racing. These are the 14s and I've been running in the 13s. They seem to come up a little higher on my ankle so I didn't bother breaking them in to race in. They'll stay in the closet until my next race. No sense tempting blister fate.
Hmm, what else? Quel nightmare, I ate my last Trader Joe's granola bar. Sadly, we don't have a TJ's and yet I love everything about the place. When I was in AZ I bought 3 boxes of my favorite granola bar. Rationing them out, I finally consumed my last bar. Not really confident that I can make it until December. Rumor has it we are getting a Trader Joe's at the end of the year!
Wish Michigan were closer, er, maybe I wish Morgan was closer actually. She just got a sweet purple ride and we could head out together, two wobbly beginners. Watch out! Brent assured me today that I will fall, most likely at an intersection. Uh, thanks Brent, I appreciate the vote of confidence. But I know that he's right. He then proceeded to ask what rally I'm training for. Uh, let's get past the "falling at intersections" phase before we start making any plans, shall we?
Lastly, (if anyone is even still reading) I asked on Twitter "How many days of music do you have in iTunes?"
I have 10.9 days. And just to give you some perspective, the Beastie Boys only make up about 6 hours out of that! George Straight makes up 8.4 hours and 'N Sync 5.1.
So tell me, how many days of music do YOU have on iTunes?
Wow 10.9 days, that is a lot of music. Yes, us Ultra guys do like our shoes, always looking for faster and more colorful ones to wear. Good luck this weekend!
ReplyDelete5.6 days.. I feel like a loser and I have a LOT of music! I really want a bike, well, we have a bike- my hubby's bike, but its not a road bike and I really want to do a Tri, but am super duper scared. That felt like word vomit..
ReplyDeleteI have 9.7 days of music on my itunes and 3.6 days of podcasts and lectures.
ReplyDeleteI really wish my town had a TJ's. I try to go whenever I'm in Minneapolis to stock up for a few weeks on some of my favorites.
Oh man--I think I only have one day's worth! That's pretty sad!
ReplyDeletelove the new ride. You'll be rocking it in no time.
Want me to send you some TJ's bars? I've never seen those but I'm sure they are there if I look. :) And I still love the new ride!
ReplyDeleteOH MY GOSH! You got a bike! Let's ride, girlfriend!!
ReplyDeleteonly 2.2 days. I feel like an iTunes failure. =( It's a REALLY great 2.2 days worth, though!
ReplyDeleteI so wanna get into biking, but I KNOW I will fall at an intersection...many times over. I'm gonna just have to take the plunge one of these days.
Your bike is pretty! I learned the color thing when I was in the lookout for a bike. My color is purple. I HAD to have a purple bike. ...and get this...I found a purple bike that fit me! Woo hoo. Uhm...unfortunately, my bike has been in the garage for quite some time. What can I say...the fall is harder from a bike than from running!
