Random Friday Facts

1. I've had the same comb since 8th grade. It's great at detangling this rat's nest of hobo hair I have. The only downside is that it's not pink. But it gets the job done.

2. If you give me a hotmail address, I assume it's your fake/spam email. Who doesn't use Gmail? Dumb theory, I know.

3. I'm not a beach person. The ocean is fascinating to me but once I see it, I'm like, well, there it is. What now?

4. Give me a mountain any day! I can't wait to get back to the mountains this summer. Mountains are for camping and climbing and hiking and biking and running and...living.

5. Although, I do love the flat prairies of North Texas. The fact that I can stand in a field and see nothing but waving grass for miles & miles...I imagine that's what people love about the beach? Cept, no drowning. Just the occasional snake.

6. The first concert I ever attended was George Strait at the Starplex Ampitheater. I think I was 14 or 15.

7. I own four pairs of "western" boots. And although I don't wear them anymore, I also have several pretty big belt buckles. Yee haw y'all.

8. I'm starting the Hundred Pushup Challenge. Again.

9. Twice this week I was in bed by 7pm. All those other times I thought that I was tired? I was a wuss. So exhausted.

10. My favorite Christmas song is Silent Night.  I know it is April.  This is a fact, the season doesn't change that.

11. I can't comment on any Wordpress blogs right now. I'm not ignoring you, it's just that Blogger & Wordpress are apparently in a fight and aren't speaking.

12. Blowing out candles on a cake you plan to serve to others is just unsanitary. Spittle. Eeewwww.

13. I buy a jar of salsa every other week. Right now I'm loving Ole Chipotle by D.L. Jardine's made in Buda, TX.

14. I held a brand new baby recently. (I usually don't - I'm afraid I'll break them) She is so teeny and perfect. Did you know they come with fingernails? FINGERNAILS! I am in awe of how God crams everything they are going to need into such a itty bitty package.

15. I'm looking to buy a lightweight, yet strong camping knife. Last time we camped I was the ONLY ONE, man or woman,  with any kind of knife. Seriously, if I didn't love pink & glitter so much, you might think I was a dude.

Are you the prepared one when you go camping?
What is your favorite vacation destination?

  1. I can't comment on any wordpress blogs either! Well, I did comment on two but I had to change my email address in order for it to post.
I love the beach, but I grew up going to the beach for a week each summer.
I used to never brush/comb my hair except with my fingers. Then I used a brush in college but decided I needed to just use a pick instead (I think I have hobo hair too). I haven't brushed my hair in years.
My brother and dad both use Hotmail exclusively. I use Hotmail as my junk mail collector and use gmail for everything else.

  2. My husband is the one who has everything if we go hunting or fishing. Equipment, that is. Fishing poles, lure, waders etc. But as far as things like bandaids, advil, water, food--nope. So we always end up buying stuff..

Beach all the way baby! Although I did love last year's vacation to Grand Canyon. That was the trip of a lifetime. I guess as long as it's warm, it doesn't matter much.

  3. I stalk your blog but not sure if I have commented. Love it!
You should come to Florida panhandle beaches. We will bring a cooler and you will see what beautiful beaches are about. I am about 4 hours away from white sandy beaches. They really are beautiful...even after all the oil spill...they are clean! There is nothing like sitting on the beach all day...mostly under an umbrella but still. I can't do it for too many days but a few and it makes you super relaxed!

  4. #2- This is not a theory, it's fact. It's the only reason I still have a hotmail account- to give out for mass mailings, when I order things I know will send me a bazillion marketing emails, or when I don't want someone to have "real" access to me.

#8- *sigh* Ditto. 3rd times a charm right?

#15- Yes, in fact I am the only one with all the camping gear in my family. All packed away in a neat bin that I can just grab when it's time to pack.

  5. Ha! I have a hotmail account that I use only with people I know, and my gmail accounts are for misc. items. People are constantly making fun of me for having a hotmail account. I've had it for a million years, and it's my first and last name in order, which I couldn't get with gmail. It's so hard to say goodbye to that!

  6. Is google messing with non-blogger blogs again? Such bullies..its quite annoying!

I dont have anything cool like a knife when we camp, but my boyfriend does. When we suggest going, he pulls all of his old Army toys out and packs them up. Sometimes I wonder why we need to bring half the things he has.

  7. I only own two pairs of boots. Work boots and dress boots.
I have two pair of running shoes, my run shoes, and my old runs shoes that are now lawn mowing shoes.
My favorite Xmas song is O' Holy Night.
I make my own salsa....fresh is so much better.
Agree, Hotmail is the new aol address.

  8. Exactly right. My hotmail is for everything that makes you sign up and put an email in. Gmail is used for people I know or important things like email deals from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory :)

  10. I am so with you on the beach vs mountains thing.

I have a Hotmail address-- it is 14 years old! I just can't bear to part with it.

  11. I still use my hotmail address for sign up thingys as well as family but I have most people transitioned over to my gmail address. I got my hotmail addy when I was 16! Hard to part with a 15 year old email address haha.
Coming from wordpress I'm having a hard time commenting on blogger posts - so maybe they are in a war?

  12. I love me some tropical paradise for R&R or anywhere in Europe to explore. Basically, I love to "unplug" and I feel like unless I'm on some tropical island or Europe sans my phone I'm not on vacation.

I have had my hotmail account since 1997. I can't part with it now, BUT I do have a couple of gmail accounts for good measure. Maybe it's cuz hotmail was my first non-edu email, but I feel like it is easier to use.

Love your random facts editions! =) Same comb really? Sheesh...I can't keep up with anything for that long!!!

  14. One word - surfing. That's what you do at the beach! I grew up on the beaches of Galveston...they aren't pretty, but we love'em. As for the hotmail account, I've had mine since college (which is a long time). I just can't part with it. When I started my blog, I linked that to another hotmail account. I just can't seem to go to gmail. Crazy, huh?

  15. Dude. My friend in London I was telling you about last night? HAS A HOTMAIL ADDRESS. Maybe in Europe it's still acceptable?

I'm totally jealous that you've seen King George in concert. On my bucket list.

My heart and soul divide their time between the beaches of California and London. I actually WISH I didn't like the beach!

  16. I have a hotmail account and it's no joke. I've had it forever and I'm too lazy to get a new one and update everyone I know. My parents have gmail accounts, I don't. I know, it's weird but true.
