My sweet friend, Gretchen turned me on to the idea of having a one word goal or power word for 2013.
I thought about it long and hard. I wanted something positive but I wanted it to be very strong. This is a year of a different kind of strength. Change was a close contender. But I really started on my path of positive change a few years ago. I’m solidly on the course.
And then it hit me.
Fierce.
If you look up the definition for fierce, well, most of them aren’t what you’d call positive! But I rather liked the third option provided to me by dictionary.com
It has been said of me before, “You are so determined it is scary.” Uh, I’ll take that as a compliment, regardless of how it was meant. But it is true, once I set my mind to something, nothing will stop me. This is certainly the year to be unstoppable – I’ve got big plans on my agenda. Even beyond Ironman.
So watch out world, here comes TPG. And as well all know, that TPG, she don’t mess around. (and it cracked me up when a friend sent me this quote and said it reminded her of me – I had already chosen Fierce! Yup, just about sums it up!)
Do you have a power word for 2013?
That is one of my favorite quotes. Good choice for 2013!
ReplyDeleteSO fitting for you! I ABSOLUTELY love it! Mine is great - or more specifically, my mantra for the year is "Be Great Today" =)
ReplyDeleteChristy, you WILL be great today! I love this!
DeleteI think fierce is a really great word.
ReplyDeleteI'm doing something similar, my word for the year is joy.
Joy. Such a beautiful, peaceful word. Love, love, LOVE!
DeleteI can think of no better word to describe you, TPG! I can't wait to see your year of ferocity unfold!
ReplyDeleteI have chosen a phrase, which also happens to be the title of a popular song: Girl on Fire
You ARE on FIYAH- excited to watch your year unfold!
DeleteThat is awesome, both a great word and a terrific way to seize the year. My word this year is Imua. It's a Hawaiian word that loosely translates to charge forward.
ReplyDeleteThat is perfect for you, sweet Clair!
DeleteIsn't it? A friend used it in an email just before my marathon, and I love it.
DeleteLove this, TPG! I decided upon "relentless."
ReplyDeleteHad to comment and point out that the spelling "feerse" in the snapshot above made me laugh. You would totally put your own spelling twist on this!
For once it wasn't me! It's the phonic spelling. But you know ahm hooked on phonics!
Deletepowerful.
ReplyDeleteIndeed you are!
DeleteLove this! And love that you still quote me. You indeed do not mess around. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, me too! i had such a good time picking a word last year (treasure) and this year I chose LIGHT. I'm excited about it & i think you are already fierce- can't wait to see how it plays out over the next 11 months ;)
ReplyDeleteLove this ;) Hmm, I don't have a word yet, but it sounds like a great idea.
ReplyDeleteHope your training is going well!
Can badass be my word?
ReplyDeleteIt could be yours too.
And I love that Shakespeare quote, of course.
Love the word! I am actually changing my blog (eventually) - Be Fit Fitness (BFF, get it?). Fierce rules!
