Buy ALL The Things!

Shopping.

Not my forte.  Not something to which I look forward to. But Shabby Princess?  (or Princess Sparkle as she is listed in my phone) This woman knows how to get things DONE.
For the past few months I've been selling nearly everything I own on Cr@ig's List.  I've had  a lot of success and must say, I may be hooked on selling stuff!
Saving my earnings, I was gearing up for Buy ALL The Things Day.  You see, one of the things I sold was, um, my sofa.  Which left my living room quite empty.

See?  No sofa.  Thas okay, I mostly use the trainer, anyway.

Now, on Buy ALL The Things Day, there are no judgies.  You get what you want/need/want.  And when you find the perfect horse painting, you snatch it up fast!  And while that cow was the perfect color of orange for my bedroom, he creeped me out.  I couldn't stare at that every morning!

She got it and it looks fabu over her piano!

We spent a great deal of time at Target shopping for towels and shower curtains.  And coke, natch.

Lowes, Home Depot, and many others were on our list.  Oh my cries, we were productive!  But we saved the worst for last.  Ikea.  Shopping gives me anxiety.  Shopping at Ikea makes me want to cry and run away.  We knew exactly what we needed, a sofa, and didn't dilly dally around.  Okay, there was a little bit of dillying.  I mean, check out these laughing dogs!

But soon we found what we needed and made our way through the seemingly endless maze that is Ikea.  Of course the furniture is at very, very end.  Now, I'm naive.  I knew you had to assemble your own bookcases and desks.  But I had NO IDEA I would have to build my own sofa! The box was taller than either of us and weighed more than each of us.  (I read the label, this is true)

But we managed to wrangle that ginormous box of sofa parts onto a cart and through the checkout line.   Imma make this official. If I NEVER go to Ikea again, it will be too soon. That store is a mad house, even on a Friday morning.  The customer service was meh.  Apparently we looked entirely too capable.  Fortunately, we are freakishly strong and made our way outside, where, a very nice man offered to help us lift this behemoth of a box into her vehicle.  But it was all up to us to make it fit!

Shove the seats all the way forward and it fits!  Good thing we both have short legs!

All in all we had a very successful (and fun) day buying ALL the things.  And, after Shabby left, I set about the business of building a sofa.  Boom, boom, boom, now I have a sofa.

I loooove hanging out with SP and she's a good friend to let me use her truck.  I mean, she had to go to waaaay into the suburbs and EVERYTHING.  (Ikea isn't close to us, not even a little bit but I bribed her with chips)  And now, I have a brand new place to lounge and all the things I'll need to set up my new bathroom.  Super excited for new spaces!

  3. I agree, IKEA is a crazy place. Sometimes you can luck out and go on a Friday night and have it be super quiet. Those are rare though! Can't wait see what else you purchase :) (and I do hope you bought that Diet Coke..I'd be disappointed if you didn't )

  4. Ikea is a maze of wonderment and hell ... I want everything cool and organizational, but I hate weaving thru the maze and the people and madness. Then I get hungry and cranky because there is no end in sight. In fact, on my last trip to IKEA, I left my cart full of ... um, two items (I thought were cool, but totally didn't NEED) and left. The end.

ps ... I love your new couch!

  6. We went to Ikea on a Sunday recently. It wasn't our idea and we didn't drive but it was insane! I have a short list of items I want to get though but don't want to go back anytime soon. Great job putting that sofa together!

  7. Redecorating is so much fun! I've never been to an Ikea, but I get freaked out in stores where there are too many choices. Hobby Lobby, Forever 21, Charming Charlie = panic attack.

  11. I like to go into Ikea in reverse just to prove it can be done and to save time. That place is crazy! Luckily we don't have one nearby because I would still be there all the time even though it stresses me out.

And you have just inspired me to go sell some stuff.
